Uttar Pradesh Targets Microchip Manufacturing and Digital Economy Growth

Uttar Pradesh wants to make more than phones.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath says the state is working toward making microchips and growing its data-centre and artificial-intelligence industries.

He says Uttar Pradesh already makes a large share of India's mobile phones and electronic components.

A semiconductor factory backed by HCL and Foxconn is planned in Jewar.

The state has also received proposals for more data-centre capacity.

Adityanath says there are over 24,000 startups and eight unicorns in the state.

A programme called AI Pragya aims to teach 10 lakh young people about new technologies.

He says these efforts are intended to support jobs, businesses and economic growth.
