Waqf Board Asserts Rights Over Attached Lands

Waqf Board Asserts Rights Over Attached Lands

The Telangana Waqf Board has stated that all Muslim religious places in protected areas are registered as Waqf institutions.

They clarified that only specific portions of monuments declared as protected fall under the control of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) or the state heritage department.

The remaining attached land continues to be owned by the Waqf Board.

For example, the Qutb Shahi tombs span 103 acres, but only 42 acres are protected.

The Shah Raju Dargah has 500 acres, but only the monument itself is protected.

The Waqf Board is registering all heritage-related Waqf properties on the Umeed portal.

They emphasized that any declaration of a protected monument becomes void if it conflicts with the Waqf status.

The board has also requested a complete list of protected monuments from the heritage department.
