TMC May Release CEC Meeting Audio Amid SIR Dispute

TMC May Release CEC Meeting Audio Amid SIR Dispute

The Trinamool Congress, or TMC, may publish recordings of meetings with India’s top election official.

The party says it has recordings from three meetings.

It wants people to hear how the Election Commission discussed election rules and answered its questions.

The TMC says the election panel has treated it unfairly.

This disagreement also involves a separate fight over who controls the party and its election symbol.

An earlier meeting on April 8 ended in a public argument.

The TMC says the chief election commissioner told its delegation to “get lost.”

The Election Commission denies that version and says its chief gave the delegation a direct response.

The possible release comes during a wider dispute over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
