Education Ministry Launches Six-Month Bridge Course for B.Ed Primary Teachers
The Education Ministry has started a six-month course for some primary-school teachers with B.Ed degrees.
It is mainly for teachers who are already working in primary schools.
The National Institute of Open Schooling will provide the course through distance learning.
Teachers will study how young children learn and how to teach them appropriately.
They will learn about inclusive classrooms, assessment and the different needs of children.
The course includes online classes and at least 20 days of practical experience in schools.
The usual eligibility period covers teachers appointed between June 28, 2018, and August 11, 2023.
Teachers must finish the course within the required period, and it does not qualify people for new primary-teacher jobs.
Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi launched a six-month Certificate (Bridge) Course in Primary Teacher Education on September 16.
The National Institute of Open Schooling will deliver the programme through Open and Distance Learning for in-service primary teachers holding B.Ed degrees.
The course includes academic learning, at least 10 days of online contact classes and at least 20 days of school-based experience.
Training covers child-centred, inclusive and developmentally appropriate teaching, assessment, child development and diverse classrooms.
Eligibility generally covers teachers appointed from June 28, 2018, to August 11, 2023; the course is not a qualification for fresh primary-teacher employment.
