ECI: Bihar Electoral Roll Overhaul Aims for Accuracy
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is updating the voter lists in Bihar.
They're doing a special check called SIR to make sure the lists are correct.
The ECI wants to include everyone who should be able to vote, while also making sure that people who aren't supposed to vote don't.
This is happening because some groups asked for cleaner lists, and many people have moved, died, or have multiple voter cards.
They have also deployed volunteers to help the voters.
The ECI is conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar to update electoral rolls.
The CEC stated the goal is to ensure no eligible voter is excluded, and no ineligible voter is included.
SIR is happening due to increasing demands from political parties for accurate voter lists.
The ECI has deployed over 1 lakh volunteers to assist voters, especially the elderly and those with disabilities.
The revision addresses issues such as migration, non-reporting of deaths, and potential inclusion of ineligible voters.
