Bombay HC Orders Demolition of Illegal Buildings in Thane Green Zone
The Bombay High Court found many illegal buildings in Thane, India, built on protected land.
Because of this, the court ordered these buildings to be torn down and also a deeper investigation.
The local government is now making rules to make sure all the buildings are legal.
They will also charge the people who built or live in the illegal buildings for the cost of taking them down.
The court also told the government to follow old rules from 2009 that were meant to stop these problems in the first place, and officials have been punished for letting these illegal buildings go up.

The court's order stemmed from a petition about 17 illegal buildings on a Green Zone land, later found to be 21.
TMC has already demolished 13 buildings, with demolition of the remaining underway.
The court noted a 2009 Government Resolution (GR) for curbing illegal construction and ordered its enforcement.
