Amul Tests Bioethanol Production From Whey, Plans Investment
Amul, a big dairy company, has found a way to make fuel (bioethanol) from leftover milk stuff called whey, which is left over when making cheese and paneer.
They did a test run and it worked!
They're now planning to build a plant to make a lot of this fuel every day.
The goal is to mix this new fuel with gasoline for cars.
This is a win-win: it uses up extra stuff from making dairy products, gives farmers more money, and helps the environment by creating a sustainable cycle.
Amul successfully tested bioethanol production from whey.
The company plans a Rs 70 crore investment for a bioethanol plant.
The trial supports the government's ethanol blended petrol (EBP) program.
The trial was conducted at Narmada Sugar in Bharuch, Gujarat.
Amul currently handles 3 million liters of whey daily, a byproduct of cheese and paneer.
