xAI Expands AI Infrastructure with Third Building
Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, has bought a third building to make its supercomputers even stronger.
This new building, called MACROHARDRR, will help xAI train its AI models faster and better.
The company already has a supercomputer called Colossus, which is said to be the biggest in the world.
They plan to add at least 1 million special computer chips called GPUs to their supercomputers.
The new building will be turned into a data center starting in 2026.
However, some people are worried because these big computer centers use a lot of energy, which might not be good for the environment.
xAI is also working on an AI-powered encyclopedia called Grokipedia, which Musk says will be much better than Wikipedia.
Musk owns a big part of xAI and is very rich, with a net worth of nearly $750 billion.
xAI has purchased a third building, named MACROHARDRR, to expand its AI supercomputer infrastructure.
The expansion aims to boost training capacity to nearly 2 gigawatts of compute power.
xAI's supercomputer cluster, Colossus, is touted as the largest in the world.
The new building is planned to be converted into a data center starting in 2026.
The expansion has drawn criticism from environmental activists due to high energy consumption.
