Supreme Court Seeks Arunachal Contract Details Amid Nepotism Claims
The Supreme Court of India has asked the government of Arunachal Pradesh to provide details of all contracts awarded between 2015 and 2025.
This is because some people think that the chief minister's family members got most of these contracts, which might not be fair.
The court wants to make sure that the government is being honest and not hiding anything.
Two groups that care about fairness in government asked the court to look into this.
The court has given the government time to explain all the contracts, and if they don't, the court might think they have something to hide.
Supreme Court asks Arunachal Pradesh government to file a detailed counter-affidavit on contracts awarded between 2015 and 2025.
Allegations claim that the chief minister's family members received a significant share of these contracts.
The court clarified that the affidavit should cover the entire state, not just the Tawang district.
The court warned that failure to provide the details might imply the government has something to conceal.
Two NGOs, one represented by advocate Prashant Bhushan, filed petitions prompting the court's action.
