Khalnayak turns 33: Subhash Ghai on script origin, legacy

In 1993, a very popular Hindi movie called 'Khalnayak' was released in India.

The movie tells the story of two police officers, Ram and Ganga, who try to catch an escaped criminal named Ballu.

Actor Sanjay Dutt played Ballu, the movie's famous villain.

'Khalnayak' also had great songs that people still enjoy today.

Now, 33 years later, filmmaker Subhash Ghai shared how he came up with the movie's idea.

He said he imagined a villain turning into a good person, like the character Ravan becoming Ram through his own conscience.

He called his film a story about the tragedy of a villain.

Fans are excited because a sequel called 'Khalnayak 2' is also being made.
