Corey O'Connor Wins Pittsburgh Mayoral Primary, Ed Gainey Concedes

In Pittsburgh, Corey O'Connor won the Democratic primary for mayor, meaning he's likely to become mayor because the city usually votes Democratic.

He beat the current mayor, Ed Gainey, in an election where people were worried about money, housing, and safety in the city.

O'Connor, who has experience in local government and whose father was also a mayor, said the city had financial problems and needed better solutions for housing and helping downtown.

Gainey, who was the first Black mayor of Pittsburgh, highlighted his work on affordable housing and lowering crime.

O'Connor received backing from construction groups, while Gainey was supported by some labor unions.

Gainey conceded, saying he aimed to bring change with his initiatives.
