BMC Approves ₹2,368 Crore Deonar Landfill Project with Higher Cost
Imagine a giant pile of old trash, called a landfill.
The city of Mumbai wants to clean it up.
They hired a company to remove the trash.
The company will clean about 185 lakh tonnes of old waste over three years.
The project will cost more than originally planned.
The company will need permission from different environmental agencies to do the work, because the landfill is in a protected area.
Part of the land is also planned for a different project, so the city is removing some of the waste.
The project aims to make the area cleaner.
BMC approved a bioremediation contract for the Deonar landfill.
The contract price is 3% higher than the initial estimate of ₹2,368 crore.
Navayuga Engineering Ltd won the contract.
