India's Energy Efficiency and AI in Power
India's power companies are in big trouble with a lot of debt.
AI and machine learning can help fix these problems by detecting electricity theft, improving billing, predicting power needs, and maintaining power lines.
India is also working hard to save energy and will show its success at a big event called the Indian Energy Week (IEW) 2026 in Goa.
This event will bring together many important people from around the world to talk about energy and how to use it more efficiently.
India has already saved a lot of energy and money, especially in states like Andhra Pradesh.
The goal is to keep improving and make sure everyone has reliable and affordable electricity.
India's power distribution companies (Discoms) have accumulated losses of ₹6.92 lakh crore as of March 31, 2024, which is about 5% higher than the previous year.
AI and ML can help Discoms reduce losses through smart metering analytics, improve billing and collection, enhance load forecasting, and enable predictive maintenance.
India is committed to doubling the global annual rate of energy efficiency improvement to more than 4% by 2030, aligned with Net-Zero goals endorsed at COP28.
Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) will showcase success stories in energy efficiency at the Indian Energy Week (IEW) 2026 in Goa from January 27 to 30, 2026.
Andhra Pradesh has distributed approximately 2.20 crore LED bulbs, achieving energy savings of 2,863 million kwh and monetary savings of around ₹1,145 crore.
