Removal Proceedings of Justice Varma to Commence Soon
The government is starting the process to possibly remove a judge, Justice Varma, after an investigation found issues with unaccounted cash found in his residence.
The Speaker of the Lok Sabha will form a special committee to look into it, as there are notices from both houses of parliament.
The judge is also challenging the findings of the earlier investigation in the Supreme Court.
If the committee agrees, the Lok Sabha will vote on the removal, and then the Rajya Sabha will vote.
It's a process to ensure fairness, with multiple checks and balances.
The Lok Sabha Speaker will soon announce a committee to investigate the grounds for removing Justice Yashwant Varma.
The Supreme Court will set up a bench to hear Justice Varma’s plea challenging the inquiry committee's findings.
The process follows the notice from Lok Sabha MPs and a similar notice from Rajya Sabha MPs.
A statutory committee, including a Supreme Court judge, a High Court judge, and a jurist, will probe the charges.
The inquiry relates to the discovery of unaccounted cash at Justice Varma’s residence.
