Panel Urges Railway Bridge Safety Database in Vulnerable Areas

They want to make sure these bridges are checked very carefully, especially during the rainy season.
Right now, some bridges already use special tools to watch for any issues.
There are many railway bridges in India, and some are being fixed up.
The committee hopes this will make train travel safer.
Parliamentary committee urges Indian Railways to create a database of vulnerable railway bridges.
The database should include bridges in flood-prone, landslide-prone, and other high-risk areas.
The committee wants special inspections during monsoon, beyond regular checks.
Real-time monitoring is currently used on three bridges, using sensors.
Indian Railways has 1,68,845 bridges, with over 5,100 identified for repair from 2022-2025.
