Government Establishes Mediation Council After Parliamentary Panel Push

The government has created a new group called the Mediation Council of India.

Mediation helps people solve disagreements without going to court.

The council will help organise and supervise this process.

It will also approve organisations that provide mediation services.

It will recognise institutes that train and certify mediators.

The council was created under a law passed in 2023.

A parliamentary committee had urged the government to establish it more quickly.

The government had previously said that finding enough qualified staff caused the delay.
