ECI Releases Draft Electoral Rolls
The Election Commission of India will publish draft electoral rolls for Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on December 23.
These rolls will be available as hard copies for political parties and online for the public.
The ECI will also provide lists of voters who are absent, have shifted, have deceased, or are duplicates.
This is to make sure the voter lists are correct and up-to-date.
People can check the rolls and tell the authorities if they find any mistakes.
The draft rolls for other states like Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have already been published, with many names being removed.
Voters in the newly listed regions can check their details online and file claims if there are any errors.
The ECI conducts Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to ensure the accuracy and purity of electoral rolls, especially when regular yearly revisions are deemed inadequate.
SIR involves house-to-house enumeration, pre-filled forms, online submissions, and fresh verification of old voter data to maintain updated rolls.
