Nonprofit Launches India's First PrEP/PEP Directory
Safe Access, a nonprofit in Delhi, has created India's first online directory to help LGBTQ+ people find clinics that offer PrEP and PEP, which are medicines that help prevent HIV.
These medicines can be expensive, and some people might be charged too much when they're worried.
The directory lists 21 clinics in big cities, showing the costs and letting people leave reviews.
It also helps people find clinics that offer lower prices based on what they can pay.
The team is working to keep the information up to date so people can easily find the help they need.
Safe Access launched India's first online directory of 21 queer and trans-friendly sexual health centres offering PrEP and PEP.
PrEP costs Rs 700-1,200 per month, while PEP costs Rs 3,000-4,500 for a 28-day course, with NGOs offering subsidized rates.
The directory includes clinics from major Indian cities and allows people to find the closest, most affordable options.
Some clinics offer a 'pay whatever you can' model or heavily subsidize the cost to make the medicines more accessible.
The platform has a review feature for feedback on clinic experiences and is working to maintain up-to-date contact information.
