Google Pixel AI Notification Summaries Roll Out for Pixel Users
Imagine your phone gets a lot of messages, especially in group chats.
It can be hard to catch up on everything!
Google is adding a new feature to some Pixel phones that uses a smart AI, like a tiny helper inside your phone, to read long messages for you.
This helper creates short summaries that show up right in your notifications.
You can quickly see what your friends are talking about without opening each chat.
The best part is that your messages are kept private because the AI works only on your phone.
To see these summaries, your phone screen needs to be off for just a moment.
This feature is part of a new update and is available in English on newer Pixel phones.
Google is releasing an AI Notification Summaries feature for select Pixel devices.
The feature uses on-device AI, Gemini Nano, to provide concise overviews of long message threads.
Summaries appear in the notification shade, marked by a sparkle icon and in italics.
Currently available in English on Pixel 9 and newer models (excluding Pixel 9a), it requires the screen to be off briefly for generation.
Users can enable the feature via Settings > Notifications > Notification Summaries and customize app exclusions.
