Study: 28% of American Adults in AI Relationships
Imagine talking or even having a relationship with a computer program (AI).
A study found that many Americans do this.
Almost 30% have had some kind of relationship with AI, like chatting or being friends with it.
This is happening more and more with programs like ChatGPT.
Surprisingly, many people in happy human relationships are also exploring AI connections.
Some people see it as fun or a way to try new things, while others might see it as a kind of escape.
However, researchers warn that spending too much time with AI could lead to feeling lonely.
The study also found that younger and older people disagree on whether having a relationship with AI while in another relationship is cheating.
28% of American adults report intimate or romantic relationships with AI.
AI systems like ChatGPT, Character.ai, Alexa, and Siri are popular.
More than half of participants have some form of relationship with AI, including work colleague, friend, or advisor.
Many people in successful human relationships also have AI relationships.
Views on whether these AI relationships are cheating vary by age group.
