Apple's 2026 MacBook Pro to Feature OLED Touchscreen, High-End Models Only
Apple is getting ready to make its most expensive MacBook Pro computers much fancier.
Starting around late 2026 or early 2027, the Pro models with the best chips, called M6 Pro and M6 Max, will get new screens that are like the ones on iPhones and iPad Pros.
These new screens will show much better colors and deeper blacks, and they will also be touchscreens.
This means you could touch your laptop screen to control it, similar to a tablet.
These upgraded MacBooks might also be thinner and possibly cost a bit more, maybe around $100 extra.
The regular MacBook Pro, with the regular M6 chip, will likely keep its current screen and design for now.
Apple does this to make its Pro products stand out and to introduce new technology on its highest-end devices first.
Apple is reportedly planning a significant redesign for high-end MacBook Pro models, featuring OLED displays and touch support.
These upgrades are expected to be introduced with the M6 Pro and M6 Max chip configurations, debuting in late 2026 or early 2027.
The base M6 MacBook Pro models are expected to retain their current design and non-touch LCD/mini-LED displays.
The new OLED touchscreens are expected to offer improved color, deeper blacks, and a slimmer chassis, potentially increasing prices by around $100.
This strategy mirrors Apple's approach of introducing new technologies first on its premium iPhone models before potentially filtering down to standard models.
