GHMC Simplifies Birth, Death Certificate Process
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has made it easier to get birth and death certificates.
If a baby is born in a hospital, the parents will get a text message with all the details.
They can then apply for the birth certificate online and get it in seven days.
If the baby is born at home, the parents need to go to the civic body to get the certificate.
The GHMC also wants to use a special system called the Civil Registration System (CRS) for this, but it's not ready yet.
Right now, they are keeping an eye on the hospital data that is being uploaded.
Many other states in India are already using this CRS system.
GHMC has streamlined the process for issuing birth and death certificates in 300 wards.
Hospital births: Parents receive a text message with details and can apply online for a birth certificate, which is issued within seven days.
Home births: Parents must approach the civic body to follow the due process for obtaining a certificate.
The adoption of the Registrar General of India’s Civil Registration System (CRS) is delayed due to the unavailability of an online integration module.
GHMC is currently monitoring hospital data uploaded to the system.
