Rohit Pawar Warns Pune MPSC Protest Could Intensify

Students have been protesting in Pune about the Maharashtra Public Service Commission, which is involved in public-service recruitment.

They want its chairman to resign and want changes to how the commission works.

The protest has been going on for ten days at S M Joshi Bridge.

Politician Rohit Pawar visited a police station after cases were registered against some people connected with the protest.

He asked the state government to explain its position by Sunday evening.

Pawar said students had agreed on a document proposing reforms.

He also called for a wide-ranging inquiry into the commission.

He warned that more people joining the protest could make it grow.

He said he would announce the next step on Sunday evening.
