Ahmedabad Launches E-waste Collection Service After Years
Ahmedabad is starting an e-waste collection service after a previous attempt failed.
The city has chosen three companies to pick up old electronics from people's homes.
Residents can request collections online and will receive money for their e-waste.
This new plan follows an earlier attempt in 2015 that never worked out.
That plan included collection centers and an app, but it was never implemented.
The new agencies will have websites linked from the city's website.
The agencies are authorized to do this because they are registered with the GPCB.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has authorized three agencies to collect e-waste.
The agencies will provide door-to-door service and compensation.
This follows failed attempts since 2015 to establish an e-waste program.
The agencies will have websites for online e-waste collection requests.
The agencies are registered with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB).
