Ranvir Shorey asks why PM dragged into viral reel dispute
An actor named Ranvir Shorey made a funny video with his friends from a movie.
Lots of people watched it, and it became very popular.
Then one person on X made a mean joke about the video.
Ranvir answered back using a rude word, and many people got angry.
People were especially upset because the person who made the joke had a picture of a woman on their account.
They said Ranvir's words were not fair to women.
Ranvir then made another video on Instagram to explain himself.
He said it was not fair to bring the Prime Minister into a fun video.
He also said that everybody should be polite, but he thinks he has the right to answer back in the same way he was spoken to.
He asked people not to use the word 'liberalism' as an excuse to bully others.
Ranvir Shorey recreated a viral Gen Z protest reel with his 'Khosla Ka Ghosla 2' co-stars Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Parvin Dabas.
He faced massive criticism after replying with a crude remark to an X user's sarcastic reshare of the reel.
The X account had a female profile picture, leading to accusations that Shorey used misogynistic language.
On Saturday, Shorey posted an Instagram video calling the backlash unjustified and questioning why the Prime Minister was dragged into the controversy.
Shorey said no one, regardless of gender, should use abusive language, but defended his right to respond in the language spoken to him.
