Barkov Makes NHL History Winning Selke, King Clancy Trophies
Aleksander Barkov, the captain of the Florida Panthers, had an amazing year!
He won two big awards: the Selke Trophy, for being the best defensive player, and the King Clancy Trophy, for being a great leader and helping others.
What makes it extra special is that no one has ever won both in the same season before!
Kids from a local hospital even gave him the awards.
He also raises money for the kids' hospital, donating money for every goal and assist.
He is the first to ever win both in the same season.
Aleksander Barkov won both the Selke Trophy and King Clancy Memorial Trophy in the same season.
Barkov is the first player in NHL history to win both awards in one year.
The Selke Trophy recognizes the best defensive forward.
The King Clancy Trophy honors leadership and humanitarian contributions.
Barkov's #BarkovScores4JoeD initiative has raised over $420,000 for Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
