Singappen Special Force Receives Thousands of Complaints
Tamil Nadu created a women-led police force called the Singappen Special Force.
It helps women and children who feel unsafe or need police assistance.
During its first 70 days, people made thousands of complaints to the force.
Officers visited many places where people might need protection.
They found missing women and children and helped people with intellectual disabilities.
The force also stopped child marriages and helped children return to school.
The government plans to hire more staff and provide vehicles, cameras and drones.
People can call 1091 for the force, and the service is connected to the 112 emergency system.
The Singappen Special Force received 3,245 complaints and registered 268 cases between June 10 and August 20.
The force traced 79 children and 46 women while visiting 104,918 reported hotspots across Tamil Nadu.
