Karnataka yet to respond on Bengaluru's second airport
The Indian government is thinking about building a second airport in Bengaluru, a big city in the southern part of India.
They have looked at three possible places for the new airport.
However, the state government of Karnataka, which is in charge of the area, hasn't said yes or no to this idea yet.
The current airport, called Kempegowda International Airport, has a rule that says no new airport can be built within 150 kilometers of it until the year 2033.
This is because the agreement with the company that runs the airport says so.
The government thinks that if they start working on the new airport now, it might be ready by 2033.
Right now, only two other cities in India have two airports: New Delhi and Mumbai.
The new airport is needed because more and more people are flying in and out of Bengaluru, and the current airport is getting very busy.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has conducted pre-feasibility studies for three sites for a second airport in Bengaluru.
The Karnataka government and airport developers have not yet responded to the AAI's report.
The current agreement prohibits new airports within 150 km of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) until 2033.
The state government aims to start groundwork now to have the second airport ready by 2033.
Bengaluru's growing industrial sector and increasing air traffic necessitate a new airport.
