People in India used credit cards to spend Rs 2.08 trillion in July 2026.

This was the third month in a row that spending crossed Rs 2 trillion.

Spending was higher than in July 2025 but lower than the record set in March 2026.

The average monthly spending in the first seven months of 2026 was about Rs 2 trillion.

More people are using credit cards, and the total number reached 122.86 million.

Private banks added the most cards, while public-sector banks also grew.

Foreign banks had fewer cards, although spending on their cards increased.

HDFC Bank and SBI Cards saw especially strong growth in spending.

Analysts said spending could remain strong during the upcoming festival season.
