CAG Suspects Fund Misuse by Odisha Tribal Agencies
The CAG, an agency that checks how government money is spent, thinks some money might have been misused by 11 government groups in Odisha that help tribal communities.
They looked at these groups' finances from 2018 to 2023 and found that about 148 crore rupees may have been spent incorrectly.
Engineers used the money for personal things like cash withdrawals and mobile phone payments.
The CAG also said that these groups didn't follow the rules for handling money, including not keeping proper records.
CAG suspects Rs 148.75 crore in fund misuse by ITDAs.
Audit covered 11 ITDAs in Odisha from 2018-2023.
Funds were allegedly used for personal transactions by engineers.
ITDAs did not prepare annual accounts as required.
Agencies didn't adhere to Odisha Public Works Department (OPWD) Code.
