South Korean Shipbuilders See Rise in Global Orders
South Korean shipbuilders are getting more orders because of problems for shipbuilders in China.
The U.S. has put in place rules that make it less attractive to use Chinese shipbuilders.
This has helped South Korea increase its share of the global shipbuilding market.
In the first half of this year, South Korea's share grew to over 25%.
Most of the orders were for container ships.
While South Korea is doing better, China still has the most orders overall.
The shipbuilding industry is also seeing some price increases.
South Korean shipbuilders' global order share rose to 25.1% in the first half of the year.
This is a significant increase from 17.2% the previous year.
The rise is linked to US sanctions against Chinese shipbuilders.
Container ships made up 53.3% of South Korea's orders in the first half.
China still leads in overall order backlog with 59% of the global total.
