US Senate Republicans Unveil Final Cryptocurrency Market Bill

Republican senators released a final version of a bill about cryptocurrency markets.

The bill would create federal rules and divide responsibilities among government agencies.

Its sponsors say it includes 126 changes requested by Democrats.

The new version adds ethics rules for elected officials, judges and their spouses.

It also gives state attorneys general a role in enforcing some rules.

Another provision would let the Treasury secretary respond to possible deposit withdrawals connected to stablecoins.

Supporters say the bill would protect consumers and jobs while encouraging innovation.

The Senate will first need 60 votes to move the bill forward on Tuesday.

If it does not get enough votes, the bill could be delayed until after the November 3 midterm elections.
