Bank Employees Protest in Bhopal, Nizamabad for Five-Day Work Week

Bank Employees Protest in Bhopal, Nizamabad for Five-Day Work Week

Some bank workers in two Indian cities, Bhopal and Nizamabad, got together to protest.

They stood outside bank offices in the evening and shouted slogans.

They want banks to be closed on all Saturdays.

Right now, banks close only on two Saturdays each month.

That rule was made in 2015 after an agreement between the government and the Indian Banks' Association.

The workers say they have much more work now than before.

They think the old rule is not fair anymore.

A big group of bank unions asked workers across the country to protest.

The workers warned that if the government does not listen, they may stop working completely.

That would be called a strike.
