US and China Unveil $30 Billion Reciprocal Tariff Framework

US and China Unveil $30 Billion Reciprocal Tariff Framework

The United States and China agreed to consider lowering taxes on some goods traded between them.

Each country published a list of products that might receive lower tariffs.

The plan is called a “30-for-30” framework because each side’s list covers about $30 billion in goods.

China’s list includes many American farm and food products, medical devices, and timber.

It does not appear to include regular US soybeans, except soybean seeds for planting.

The US list includes Chinese toys, appliances, decorations, and other consumer products.

The countries have not yet decided the exact lower tax rates or when the plan will begin.

Officials say the framework is intended to support trade and market access.
