Mapping Women's Hangout Spots in Bengaluru's Cantonment
Two researchers are finding out where women liked to hang out in a part of Bengaluru called the Cantonment between 1984 and 1994.
They are talking to women who lived there to learn about their favorite spots.
They're also interested in how women moved around the city and how safe they felt.
They will turn what they learn into a book with stories and pictures.
The project wants to understand how women used the city and remember places that are gone or forgotten.
A project is mapping locations where women frequented in Bengaluru's Cantonment area between 1984 and 1994.
The project, led by Nikhita Thomas and Pranav V.S., explores women's spatial experiences in the city.
The project's inspiration came from historical research and the concept of "kineticization" in the 80s and 90s.
The research involves interviews with women who lived, worked, or studied in the area during the specified period.
The findings will be compiled into a co-created art essay book and have involved community engagement through quizzes.
