Huawei Introduces Wider Non-Foldable Phone Ahead of Apple’s Foldable
Huawei made a regular phone that is wider and shorter-looking than most smartphones.
It does not fold, even though its unusual shape is inspired by wider foldable phones.
Its screen is 6.39 inches wide and has very thin borders.
Huawei says the shape provides more usable screen area.
The phone also has a large battery and a bright OLED display.
It is currently available for pre-booking in China, but its price has not been announced.
Other companies, including Samsung and Apple, are also exploring wider phone designs.
Apple’s rumored iPhone Ultra may fold open into a larger, tablet-like screen.
Companies hope these unusual premium phones will attract customers despite weak sales and limited memory supplies.
Huawei’s Pura X View is a non-foldable phone with a wide 6.39-inch, 16:9.5 display.
The device has 1.05mm bezels, 6,500 nits of brightness, and a 7,000mAh battery.
It runs HarmonyOS 7 on Huawei’s Kirin 9030S chipset with 12GB of RAM.
Huawei has not announced pricing or broad availability; pre-booking is open in China.
Apple’s rumored iPhone Ultra may launch in September with a passport-like foldable design.
