Election Commission Demands NCP Submit Constitution Amendments
The Election Commission of India sent a letter to Sunetra Pawar, the new leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, asking her to send papers about changes she made to the party’s rules.
The party said it only changed one rule, but the Commission thinks it changed more.
The Commission wants copies of the papers that show all the changes.
Sunetra became the party leader after her husband died in a plane crash.
The Commission wants the documents so it can check everything is correct.
Election Commission sent a notice to Sunetra Pawar over NCP constitution changes.
NCP’s national convention on Feb 26, 2026, passed a resolution amending only Section 18(1).
Commission alleges additional amendments to Articles 6, 7, 12, 32, and 36 were made without supporting documents.
Commission requests copies of resolutions and supporting documents for those amendments.
Sunetra Pawar became NCP National President after her husband Ajit Pawar’s death in a plane crash.
