Cockroach Janta Party Grows From FIFA Joke Into Youth Movement

Abhijeet Dipke started a funny online group called the Cockroach Janta Party.

He got the idea while playing FIFA on his PlayStation in Boston.

He had seen a comment by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant that he thought was insulting.

Dipke joked that all the “cockroaches” should come together.

The group used words like unemployed, lazy and professional ranter in a humorous way.

Thousands of young people joined through an online form.

About 5,000 people registered in two hours.

After 12 hours, the number had reached 50,000.

The joke became a way for young Indians to discuss jobs, exams and disappointment with politics.
