NFR Achieves Freight Milestone in Meghalaya
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has achieved a big milestone by loading its first full freight train in Meghalaya.
This happened at Mendipathar Railway Station on 28th December 2025.
They loaded 42 wagons with coal in just 8 hours and 30 minutes.
This is a big deal because it's the first time a full freight train has been loaded in Meghalaya.
Before this, the station was only unloading freight, which it started doing in February 2025.
Since then, they have unloaded a lot of freight, which is good for the local economy.
This new loading operation will help move goods more easily and cheaply, especially in hilly areas.
It will also support local industries and make it easier to transport important goods.
NFR successfully loaded its first full freight rake at Mendipathar Railway Station, Meghalaya on 28th December 2025.
The operation involved 42 body covered wagons loaded with coal in 8 hours and 30 minutes.
Mendipathar Railway Station began freight unloading operations on 4th February 2025, with a total of 29 mini rakes and 6 full rakes unloaded by December 2025.
