BJD to Challenge 2024 Poll Results in Orissa High Court
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) party is not happy with how the last election went and is going to court.
They believe there were mistakes in how votes were counted.
They told the Election Commission (ECI) about these problems a while ago but didn't get a good answer.
The BJD saw some strange things: more votes counted than people actually voted, differences between votes in different elections held at the same time, and the numbers changing after the voting ended.
They want the court to look into it to make sure everything was fair.
BJD to move Orissa High Court regarding vote discrepancies in the 2024 elections.
BJD alleges the Election Commission failed to provide a satisfactory response to their concerns.
The BJD submitted evidence of vote discrepancies to the ECI approximately eight months prior.
Discrepancies include more votes counted than cast, differences between Lok Sabha and Assembly votes, and vote count variations after polling.
BJD had requested an audit of the election process and full VVPAT implementation.
