Madhya Pradesh Schools to Introduce Online Attendance for Classes 9-12
In the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, schools are getting a new way to check who comes to class.
Students in grades 9 through 12 will have their attendance recorded online.
The computer system they will use is called Education Portal 3.0.
Teachers will mark each student as present, absent, or on leave.
At first, the computer will show everyone as present, and teachers will change it for students who are absent.
The education department wants to keep a close watch on students who miss school often.
If a student is absent a lot, the school will help them with their studies.
The school will also contact the student's parents to talk about coming to school.
This way, the department hopes more students will attend school regularly.
The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) ordered schools in Madhya Pradesh to record attendance of students in Classes 9-12 online.
Attendance will be recorded through Education Portal 3.0, which will allow the department to track frequently absent students.
Teachers will mark students as Present, Absent, or On Leave under the Student Attendance option in Student Management.
The system will initially show all students as present, with teachers marking those absent or on leave before saving data.
Schools must contact parents of continuously absent students and provide additional academic support to those with low attendance.
