Sensex, Nifty end lower on oil prices, US-Iran impasse

Sensex, Nifty end lower on oil prices, US-Iran impasse

In India, the stock market is a place where people buy and sell small pieces of companies.

On Friday, the two most watched market measures, called the Sensex and the Nifty, ended the day a little lower than where they started.

That means the value of many companies' pieces went down by a small amount.

One big reason was that the price of oil went up, and there is tension between the United States and Iran.

When oil is expensive and there is worry in the world, investors get cautious.

This worry was stronger than some good news from America, where markets reached a new record high.

People called foreign institutional investors sold about Rs 510.69 crore worth of shares on Thursday.

Some companies, like hospitals and telecom companies, did well, while housing finance companies and oil and gas companies did not.

For the whole week, the market also ended lower than it started.

The Nifty was still able to hold an important 'support zone,' which analysts see as a positive sign for the market.
