Pune to establish Metropolitan Surveillance Unit for infectious disease control
Pune is setting up a special unit called the Metropolitan Surveillance Unit (MSU) to help control infectious diseases.
This unit will have doctors and scientists who will watch for diseases and work to stop them from spreading.
The government has approved this plan, and Pune is one of the few cities in India to have such a unit.
The MSU will check things like water quality, food safety, and even diseases in animals.
It will also work with other departments and hospitals to make sure everyone stays healthy.
The unit will be located in a building called Tukaram Jawale Bhavan and will have special labs and trained staff to handle health emergencies.
