ICC Rejects Israel's Challenge to Gaza Probe
The International Criminal Court (ICC) recently made a big decision.
They said no to Israel's request to stop an investigation into possible war crimes in Gaza.
The ICC also kept arrest warrants for Israel's Prime Minister and a former defense leader.
Israel wanted a new investigation because of attacks by Hamas in October 2023, but the ICC said no.
Israel is not happy with this decision and says the ICC is being political.
The ICC can still investigate because its rules apply to Gaza and other Palestinian areas, even though Israel didn't sign the agreement that created the court.
There's a shaky truce between Israel and Hamas, but people are still getting hurt in Gaza.
ICC rejected Israel's challenge to the investigation into alleged war crimes in Gaza.
ICC upheld arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant.
Israel argued for a new probe post-October 7 Hamas attacks, but the ICC maintained its original investigation.
ICC's jurisdiction extends to Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, regardless of Israel's non-signatory status to the Rome Statute.
A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has been in place since October 10, 2023, but casualties continue in Gaza.
