Chargesheet Filed in Tirumala Ghee Adulteration Case
A big investigation that lasted 15 months found out that some people were mixing bad things into the ghee used to make special sweets called laddus in a famous temple.
The main people responsible are two directors of a dairy company in Uttarakhand.
They and many others, including some temple officials, are accused of making and selling fake ghee.
The fake ghee was made using cheap oils and chemicals to look like real ghee.
The total amount of fake ghee sold was a lot, and it involved a huge amount of money.
The police found out all this by checking records and lab reports.
There was a big argument between political parties about whether animal fat was used in the laddus, which hurt the feelings of many people.
The police special investigation team filed a chargesheet in the Nellore ACB Court for the adulteration of ghee used in Tirumala laddus.
The main conspirators identified are Pomil Jain and Vipin Jain, directors of Bhole Baba Organic Dairy in Uttarakhand.
A total of 24 people were named as accused in the chargesheet, with 12 others mentioned as having a role in the scam.
The investigation, which lasted 15 months and covered 12 states, found that 68 lakh kg of adulterated ghee was supplied, involving transactions worth around ₹250 crore.
