8th Pay Commission Expands Consultations Ahead of 2027 Recommendations

The 8th Pay Commission is studying how government workers and pensioners should be paid in the future.

It is meeting employee groups, unions and pensioner associations in different parts of India.

Its next meeting is in Jaipur on 31 August and 1 September 2026.

More meetings will take place in Chennai, Puducherry, Chandigarh and Bengaluru.

People and organisations can send their ideas before the listed deadlines.

They may discuss salaries, allowances, pensions and working conditions.

Unions are also asking for a higher fitment factor, which helps determine how basic pay is revised.

The Commission has not yet made a final decision on these issues.

It is expected to send its recommendations to the Union Cabinet by May or June 2027.
