Young Musicians Flee Russia After Anti-Kremlin Songs
Three young musicians in Russia were arrested for singing songs that criticized the government.
They were in and out of jail several times for small offenses.
After their latest release, two of them left the country.
One of them, Diana, was also fined for singing another song that the government didn't like.
A group called Amnesty International said they should be free because all they did was sing songs that went against what the government says.
The musicians' family and friends are confused about why they were targeted so much.
Diana Loginova (18) and Alexander Orlov (22) fled Russia after being released from detention on Sunday, November 2023.
They were arrested on October 15, 2023, for performing an anti-Kremlin song by exiled rapper Noize MC in central St. Petersburg.
Loginova was fined 30,000 roubles ($379) for 'discrediting' the Russian army by singing another anti-Kremlin song.
The trio faced multiple short jail sentences for minor violations, a practice known as 'carousel arrests'.
Amnesty International called for their release, stating their only 'crime' was singing songs that challenge the official narrative.
