Zydus Launches First Trivalent Flu Vaccine in India
Zydus Lifesciences has introduced a new flu shot in India called VaxiFlu.
This vaccine follows the advice of global health experts for the 2025-2026 flu season.
It's designed to protect against three common flu viruses: A/Victoria, A/Croatia, and B/Austria.
Previously, India used a vaccine that protected against four strains.
Since one strain, B Yamagata, is no longer circulating, the new vaccine is now trivalent.
It's recommended for anyone six months or older.
The move aligns India with other countries, including the US, using the same type of vaccine.
The goal is to reduce the number of flu cases and related health issues.
Zydus Lifesciences launched India's first trivalent influenza vaccine.
The vaccine, Vaxiflu-TIV, aligns with WHO recommendations.
It protects against A/Victoria, A/Croatia, and B/Austria flu strains.
The vaccine is recommended for individuals aged six months and above.
India previously used a quadrivalent vaccine; trivalent is now recommended.
