Nagaland Plans Government School Restructuring, Emergency Teacher Recruitment

Nagaland Plans Government School Restructuring, Emergency Teacher Recruitment

Nagaland wants to improve its government schools.

Some schools with very few students may be merged or closed.

Nearby schools may be combined so children can study from elementary level through higher secondary school in one system.

The government says there are too few teachers for subjects such as mathematics, science, physics and chemistry.

It plans to quickly hire more graduate teachers for these subjects.

Teachers may also be moved from areas with extra staff to schools that need them.

The state is improving attendance tracking and exploring digital learning and artificial intelligence.

Teachers and their association have asked for service-rule reviews and more postgraduate teachers, while the government says it will consult them before making major changes.
