India Strengthens Flu Preparedness with WHO
The Indian government and the World Health Organization (WHO) had a two-day meeting in New Delhi to talk about how to get ready for the flu season.
They decided that it's important to have good systems to watch for diseases, strong labs, and hospitals that can handle flu cases.
They also agreed to work together across different areas like human, animal, and wildlife health.
The meeting had people from many different groups, and they all agreed on a plan to make sure everyone is ready for the flu and other similar diseases.
This plan includes checking for diseases, testing in labs, and making sure hospitals are prepared.
They also want to share information quickly and work together to stop the spread of diseases.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to integrate surveillance and strengthen labs to combat influenza.
The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and WHO organized a two-day influenza Chintan Shivir in New Delhi.
The Shivir focused on strengthening preparedness and response mechanisms for the upcoming influenza season.
A structured influenza preparedness checklist was developed to guide preparedness planning across four key domains.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on adopting a whole-of-Government and One Health approach to address influenza.
